Bushfire devastation in Victoria. From the ABC news :"Twenty-five people are confirmed to have died in fires north of Melbourne and this morning there are unconfirmed reports of bodies being found in cars overtaken by the fires in Gippsland in the state's east. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd says the Australian Defence Force stands ready to help after an "appalling" loss of life in the Victorian bushfires."
All this happening around Melbourne, some of it in the very country we travelled thru before New Years. Some say it's worse than Ash Wednesday. Harsh country this place.
Just some different news, the engineering work on the Guinea Alumina Project has come to a grinding halt, project is proceeding with minimal site work, no doubt to appease the Guineans. Most client people have been given the chop, have to find work elsewhere. I have been fortunate enough to be re-assigned to another project with Bechtel... expansion of the Worsley alumina refinery in WA.... might last 6 months to a year.
Tony has sort of moved back here... has moved out twice this week already. His demeanour seems to be a lot better than when he first arrived from NZ... but shit he can be a selfish, self centred dickhead. Who knows, he might wake up some day.
